Nicolas de Jong splits ways Chalons-Reims
Nicolas de Jong (210 cm) is departing from Champagne Chalons-Reims (France-Pro A). The big man played 31 games last season for the French squad. In 21.2 mpg off the bench, de Jong managed to score 13.5 ppg. The ability to put the ball in the basket is what the big Dutchman does best. However, he didn’t contribute much rebounding to the team with a measly 3.8 rpg. The post defense did not show up either as he only averaged 0.5 bpg and 0.4 spg.
The 2016/2017 season was the only time de Jong played with Chalons-Reims. The team underachieved in the campaign and finished 10-24 which put them in 14th place out of 16 teams. Change is on the brink for this team’s roster and de Jong is the most recent player to head out.
Since going pro in 2008, de Jong only played in France. Expect him to stay in familiar territory in the Pro A. If not, he could return to his home country of the Netherlands for a fresh start. He turned 31-year-old in April and still has plenty of life left in his basketball career.
