Malcolm Delaney parts ways with Barcelona
Malcolm Delaney will no longer play for Barcelona, as the two sides parted ways on Thursday (14/04).
The Catalans released a statement and announced they agreed with Delaney on the contract termination.
The American guard was under contract with the ”Blaugrana” until June 30. Yet, he now is a free agent and has been linked to other EuroLeague teams, like Olympiacos and Armani Milano.
Malcolm Delaney took to Twitter earlier today and shared his thoughts on the matter.
“My decision about the future has nothing to do with me being home or anything related to that.
I came home and I haven’t left my house for almost 2 months. I had access to a basketball court, and my trainer for my body at home. Would you prefer to sit on a house in Barca?
Alone doing mediocre workouts or be able to go home and stay in shape with my trainer and being able to have access to basketball to stay prepared in case something happened?
LASTLY, I appreciate the opportunity from the club, and the biggest thing that hurts is the bond I shared with the fans. I made my intentions clear that I wanted to finish my career there.
But, things aren’t always how you want and it didn’t work. So I’m moving on. And wish nothing.
But, the best to the club, and my former teammates. I wish we could have finished what we started but this decision was best for ME and that’s all that matters. MAKE your assumptions and stories but the only facts of MY decision can come from ME,” Delaney tweeted.
It is certain Malcolm Delaney will receive offers from the top EuroLeague clubs. What remains to be seen is whether he will remain in Europe and will try to return to the NBA.
Delaney was also one of the EuroLeague superstars that did not agree with the league’s willingness to resume the season.
Delaney had suggested both the EuroLeague and the ACB should cancel the season, due to the coronavirus pandemic.
