The exact date for the return of Kyrie Irving is still up in the air. According to Mark Medina of NBA.com, Irving’s five-day suspension actually ended on Saturday but the Nets are still mum on updates on the return of the All-Star point guard. When asked about the matter, newly-named Nets head coach Jacque Vaughn said that he also hasn’t been updated on the situation.

It could be remembered that the Nets organization decided to impose a five-game suspension on Irving for reposting an antisemitic film on his official Twitter account. To make matters worse, Irving opted not to apologize for it right away, prompting a lot of criticism and ultimately forcing the Nets’ front office to suspend him without pay.

But Kyrie Irving would eventually apologize for what he did, and even met with NBA commissioner Adam Silver to discuss how to move forward. Nets team owner Joe Tsai and his wife Clara also recently sat down with the embattled guard. Tsai came out of the meeting with the impression that Irving “does not have any beliefs of hate” towards the Jewish community. Vaughn then mentioned that at least there is a positive direction now, and the important thing is that everyone is working together.

Kyrie Irving, who is now in his fourth year with the Nets, put up an incredible stat line of 26.9 points, 5.1 rebounds, 5.1 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.1 blocks through eight games this season. He has missed the last five games but the good thing is that the Nets are still thriving despite their star’s absence. Brooklyn has won four of its last five games, including victories against the Washington Wizards, Charlotte Hornets, New York Knicks, and Los Angeles Clippers.
