Nets Star Kyrie Irving Finally Nearing Return
Brooklyn Nets star guard Kyrie Irving is finally nearing a return to the team’s active lineup.
Kyrie Irving Might Play on Sunday
The Brooklyn Nets recently received a piece of good news, with star point guard Kyrie Irving nearing his return to the team’s active lineup. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Kyrie is already about to complete the process and the requirements he needed to make his return to an NBA basketball court. Since the antisemitic issues that forced the Nets’ front office to suspend their lead guard, Kyrie has missed a total of seven games. Wojnarowski mentioned that the All-Star guard will still sit out the Nets’ upcoming match against the Portland Trail Blazers on Thursday. However, it is expected that Kyrie will rejoin the team when they go up against Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday.
This is definitely a welcome development for Kyrie and the whole Nets team. According to National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) executive director Tamika Tremaglio, Kyrie has immersed himself in dialogue and education about the Jewish community and culture. Tremaglio also said that Kyrie doesn’t have antisemitic beliefs and that he’s working together with the union to remedy the situation. It could be remembered that Kyrie already issued an apology and had separate meetings with NBA commissioner Adam Silver and Nets team owner Joe Tsai.
Kyrie Irving is definitely a key cog in the Nets’ pursuit of the championship. Through eight games this season, Kyrie is logging 38.6 minutes per game, while tallying an all-around stat line of 26.9 points, 5.1 rebounds, 5.1 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.1 blocks. While it’s true that his co-star Kevin Durant is also putting up one tremendous performance after the other, the team is still expecting for more returns from All-Star point forward Ben Simmons. With Kyrie back in the fold, this may be a great opportunity for the three stars to build better chemistry.
