Nets’ Ben Simmons Finally Turns In an Impressive Performance
Brooklyn Nets point forward Ben Simmons finally turned in an impressive performance this season.
Ben Simmons Puts Up Inspired Performance
The Brooklyn Nets are continuing to put their trust in Ben Simmons, and the latter recently repaid their patience. In the Nets’ thrilling 109-107 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers, Simmons came off the bench to put up an all-around stat line of 15 points, 13 rebounds, and 7 assists. Simmons logged 32 minutes in the win and went for a perfect 6-of-6 clip from the field. This is easily the best performance of Simmons in a Nets uniform, and it came just at the right time.
It was just a couple of days ago when news came out saying that the Nets coaching staff and players are growing frustrated over the availability and level of play of Ben Simmons. He has missed a handful of games to start the new season and has been putting up disappointing averages of 6.6 points, 6.7 rebounds, 5.7 assists, and 1.0 steals per contest. It may be a decent stat line for other players but people forget that Simmons is a three-time All-Star who also made it to the All-NBA Third Team in 2020.
Moreover, the Nets are also expecting Simmons to return to his old deadly form on defense. At 6-foot-10, he has the length, mobility, athleticism, and instincts that make him a versatile operator on the defensive end of the floor. He made it to the NBA All-Defensive First Team in 2020 and 2021 and also led the league in steals once.
With this recent fine play from Simmons, the Nets are hoping that he could build up momentum moving forward. The Nets are currently sporting a record of seven wins against nine defeats, sitting 11th in the Eastern Conference standings. The good news is that they are getting Kyrie Irving back soon, as he has completed everything he needs to do to put an end to his suspension.
