Nemanja Bjelica signs deal with Timberwolves
The 2015 Turkish Airlines Euroleague MVP, Nemanja Bjelica (209 cm) has reached an agreement to play for the Minnesota Timberwolves. The deal is reportedly good for three years and worth $11.7 million. The talented Serbian forward was originally drafted by the Washington Wizards in the 2nd round (35th overall) in the 2010 NBA draft. Nemanja joins a franchise that has made leaps in its rebuilding process. The 27-year-old Bjelica has been a member of the Serbian national team from 2009 up to the present.
“I’m excited to announce that I intend to sign with the Minnesota Timberwolves and fulfill my dream of playing in the NBA,” Bjelica said in a statement issued Monday. “Thank you Flip Saunders and the rest of the organization for the confidence you have shown in me. I’m looking forward joining the team and helping it become a contender.”
He last played in Europe for Fenerbahce Ulker Istanbul (Turkey-TBL). Bjelica averaged 12.1 ppg and 8.5 rpg in 29 Euroleague games. He posted averages of 11.1 ppg and 8.0 rpg in the domestic Turkish league in 2014/15.
