NCAA: Kentucky stays perfect, still No. 1
NCAA – At the end of Week 16 the Kentucky Wildcats maintain their unanimous number one ranking across various polls, riding on their pristine 27-0 record. They took down Tennessee and Auburn last week in convincing fashion. They are set to face Mississippi State and Arkansas (22-5) this week, and remain as the heavy favorites to come away as victors in those matchups. Both Virginia (25-1) and Gonzaga (28-1) hold steady as the number two and three ranked schools, respectively.
Fourth ranked Duke University edged out North Carolina 92-90 to keep their 24-3 slate intact. They face Syracuse on the 28th. Both Wisconsin and Villanova share identical 25-2 records and remain ranked at fifth and sixth. North Carolina (19-8) still holds on to their rank of 15th in the AP Polls despite the loss.
Notre Dame (24-4) moved up one spot to ninth and Northern Iowa (26-2) cracks the Top 10 this week.
Utah falls out of the Top 10 and are now ranked 13th after their 69-58 loss to Oregon. The biggest drop in the rankings this week belongs to Louisville (21-6) which fell five spots to 17th after their 69-59 loss to Syracuse. They’ve been struggling as of late and will need to make some key adjustments in order to get back on track.
West Virginia (21-6) breaks into the Top 20, moving up three spots, after their key wins against Kansas and Oklahoma State last week.
San Diego State (22-6) and Providence (19-8) are new entrants into the Top 25, take the last two spots.
