NCAA – Florida ranked #1 for third week
For the third straight week the Florida Gators have been ranked as the number one team in NCAA Men’s Basketball based on voting done in the Associated Press (AP) polls. The Gators had a strong week with solid wins over South Carolina and Kentucky, earning them fifty of the sixty five votes in the poll. Conversely, Kentucky’s loss sees them dropping out of the AP Top 25 this week.
Wichita State, with its impressive 34-0 record is hot on Florida’s heels at number two. Former number one team Arizona suffered a loss at the hands of Oregon and slips out of the top three. Villanova, with a win against Xavier and against Georgetown, jumps up three spots to land just behind Wichita State and bumping down Arizona to number four.
Louisville and Oklahoma are the two schools that gained the most ground this week, each rising up six spots in the rankings. Louisville is now number 5 and Oklahoma is now number 17. Meanwhile Southern Methodist is the biggest loser, dropping down seven places all the way to number 25.
