Former Kings Teammates Named as NBA Players of the Week
Sacramento Kings star De’Aaron Fox and Indiana Pacers rising star Tyrese Haliburton have been named NBA players of the week. Fox and Haliburton were former teammates in Sacramento before the latter was shipped to the Pacers in a trade deal that saw all-around big man Domantas Sabonis move to Sacramento.
Fox is playing at a new high this season, as he is tallying career-highs of 25.4 points and 5.0 rebounds, along with 6.3 assists and 1.3 steals per game. Most importantly, the lefty scoring guard is creating his offense in a very efficient way. Fox is shooting a career-high 54.1% overall clip from the field, including a stellar 39.5% clip from the three-point line and 81% from the charity stripe. Fox has been a key cog for the Kings’ surprisingly good start to the season. Even though they saw their seven-game winning streak come to an end, the Kings are still sporting an excellent record of ten wins against only seven losses.
As for Haliburton, he’s also thriving as a lead guard for the Pacers. Through 17 games this season, Haliburton is putting up an all-around stat line of 19.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, 10.9 assists, and 1.7 steals. Similar to the Kings’ good run, the Pacers are also holding a 10-7 win-loss slate, which is good for the 5th spot in the Eastern Conference standings. The Pacers were supposed to be tanking right now, especially with them shipping Sabonis last season. But with Haliburton leading the way, this young Pacers squad is actually doing great on both ends of the floor.
