NBA News Roundup: LeBron Gets Ejected for the First Time
It was a day of firsts in NBA news on Tuesday night. Storylines zigged and zagged, some for the better, others for the worse. Across his 15-year career, this was the first time LeBron James was ever ejected from a pro game. The Cavaliers had a comfortable 93-70 lead over the Miami Heat when James got a steal then missed a layup. He argued with referee Kane Fitzgerald about being fouled by the Heat’s James Johnson. James got called for a technical foul and was ejected from the game. Needless to say, the Cavaliers had enough of a cushion to finish the game off with a victory, 108-97 for their ninth-straight win.
Chicago Bulls’ Nikola Mirotic attended his first game with the team since his altercation with teammate Bobby Portis. Mirotic, who suffered a concussion and facial fractures after being punched by Portis during a practice, has not yet spoken to his teammate but has been attending practices and have faced each other in scrimmages. The Bulls fell to the Phoenix Suns, 99-104.
Some bad news for the Los Angeles Clippers. Blake Griffin has been diagnosed with a sprained MCL and is expected to miss a couple of months of action. The Clippers have been ravaged by injuries this season. Patrick Beverley is out for the season after undergoing knee surgery and the team has been without Danilo Gallinari who has been sidelined with a strained glute. Rookie Milos Teodosic could make his return sometime after Christmas but All-Star center, DeAndre Jordan could be on the move. The team is in a confusing state of flux and in desperate need of some direction.
