NBA Daily Roundup: Sacramento Kings Extend Win Streak to Seven Games
The Sacramento Kings are now winners of seven straight games.
Sacramento Kings Continue Streaking
The Sacramento Kings continue their stellar run with a close-call 113-109 victory over Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies. Kings star point guard De’Aaron Fox did his usual magic, tallying an all-around stat line of 32 points, eight rebounds, six assists, and four steals in the win. Harrison Barnes, whose name has been swirling in recent trade speculations, drilled four treys on his way to 26 markers. Lithuanian big man Domantas Sabonis flirted with a triple-double, finishing with nine points, thirteen rebounds, and eight assists.
This was almost a runaway win for the Kings, as they already had a 12-point advantage entering the payoff period. But they let the Grizzlies storm back in the closing minutes, a furious run that trimmed the Kings’ lead to only one with five seconds remaining in the game clock. However, Morant missed a couple of crucial free throws, sealing the Kings’ seventh win in a row.
Morant led all scorers with 34 markers, while Jaren Jackson Jr. chipped in 22 points, three boards, five blocks, and two steals. Memphis played without their starting shooting guard Desmond Bane, who is still recovering from a toe injury.
Suns Overcome AD’s Big Night
With a 115-105 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers, the Phoenix Suns retained their seat in the first spot of the Western Conference standings. Devin Booker and Mikal Bridges poured in 25 markers apiece, while Deandre Ayton hauled a double-double performance of 14 points and 15 rebounds in the win.
The Suns had to overcome yet another big night from Lakers star Anthony Davis, who stuffed the stat sheet with 37 points, 21 rebounds, 5 steals, and 5 blocks. Lonnie Walker and Russell Westbrook contributed 24 and 21 points, respectively. The Lakers drop to a 5-11 slate, which is currently the second-worst record in the West.
