NBA D-League: Four Remain Unbeaten

As the NBA D-League wraps up it’s first week of competition, four clubs remain undefeated, the Los Angeles D-Fenders (2-0) and The Santa Cruz Warriors (1-0) in the West Division; the Tulsa 66ers (3-0) and the Sioux Falls Skyforce (2-0) of the Central Division. The East Division has to squads at 2-1, the Maine Red Claws (2-1) and the Erie Bayhawks (2-1).

Jeremy Lamb of Tulsa leads the scoring chart with 33.0ppg (only 1 game), while Chris Douglas-Roberts of Texas is burning the cords with a 28.0ppg average over the first four games of the season.

As of this week, three D-Leaguers have been called up to the NBA: Kevin Jones of Canton was called up to the Cleveland Caveliers; James Anderson of Rio Grande Valley got the call from the San Antonio Spurs; Daniel Orton was sent to the Oklahoma City Thunder from the Tulsa 66ers. 100 current NBA players have D-League Experience.

Friday, November 30th Games:
Maine Red Claws – Los Angeles D-Fenders, 94:97
The Los Angeles D-Fenders completed a come-from-behind 94:97 victory over the Maine Red Claws on Friday night at the Portland Expo Building. Trailing by five points with 2:12 remaining, the D-Fenders scored the final eight points of the game to snatch the win and move to 2-0 on the season.

Springfield Armor – Sioux Falls Skyforce, 111:118
The Springfield Armor, presented by MGM Springfield, fell 111:118 Friday night to the Sioux Falls Skyforce before 4,755 at the MassMutual Center in the Armor’s opening night game. The Skyforce improves to 2-0 with the victory, while the Armor fall to 1-1. Sioux Falls got off to a strong start tonight, connecting on 18-of-24 shots (.750) to establish a 42-29 advantage at the end of the first quarter. Andrew Goudelock’s 13 points fueled the Skyforce’s early offensive success.

Erie Bayhawks – Canton Charge, 80:91
The Canton Charge held off the Erie BayHawks, 80:91, in front of 2,364 at the Memorial Civic Center on Friday night for their first victory of the season. Canton improved to 1-3 on the young 2012-13 campaign, while Erie evened their mark at 1-1.

Fort Wayne Mad Ants vs Iowa Energy, 108:101
In a terrific back-and-forth ball game, the Fort Wayne Mad Ants were able to pull away in the end from a tenacious Iowa Energy team 108-101 Friday evening at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne.

Tulsa 66ers – Rio Grande Valley Vipers, 97:94
The Tulsa 66ers held off Rio Grande Valley Vipers for a 97-94 win at the SpiritBank Event Center behind 33 points and 10 rebounds from Oklahoma City Thunder assignee Jeremy Lamb.

Reno Bighorns – Santa Cruz Warriors, 95:101
The Santa Cruz Warriors got their first win of the season on the road in Reno, holding off a late charge by the Bighorns to come up with a 95:101 victory. The Warriors used a big second quarter, outscoring their hosts 24:36, to give themselves enough of a cushion to finish out the day on top, despite losing the second half 52:45. The game was the first of the season for both clubs, Reno drops to 0-1 with the loss.

Saturday, December 1st Games:
Erie Bayhawks – Canton Charge, 82:80
Erik Daniels’ hit a three-point shot from the top of the key with 26.3 seconds left to propel the Erie BayHawks past the Canton Charge, 82-80, at Erie Insurance Arena on Saturday Night. The loss dropped the Charge to 1-4 on the season with the loss, while Erie’s home-opener victory improved them to 2-1.

Iowa Energy – Fort Wayne Mad Ants, 102:88
Point guard Chris Wright scored 19 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out nine assists to lead the Iowa Energy to a 102-88 win over the Fort Wayne Mad Ants Saturday night. The Energy dominated the glass, outrebounding Fort Wayne by a 61-41 margin.

Texas Legends – Rio Grande Valley Vipers, 102:95
Despite an 18 point, 19 rebound performance by Terrence Jones, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers dropped to 1-3 on the season when they fell to the Texas Legends 102:95. Texas got 27 points and 8 assists from Chris Douglas-Roberts, and 18 points and 6 assists from Sean Singletary in the win at the Dr. Pepper Arena in Frisco, Texas.

Austin Toros – Idaho Stampede, 99:81
The Idaho Stampede made just 32-of-92 shots (34.8 percent) and fell to the Austin Toros as the home team celebrated pre-game with their 2012 D-League Championship ring presentation. Idaho (0-3) was led by Durrell Summers, who had 19 points on 8-of-19 shooting. The wing from Michigan State has led the team in scoring in each of the Stampede’s first three games.
