MZT Skopje 4-peats as Prva Liga Champions

This 2015, KK MZT Skopje Aerodrom has won its fourth consecutive Macedonian Prva Liga title! They swept KK Kumanovo 2009 in three game of the Finals series. MZT Skopje managed to close out the series with an impressive 94-85 victory on their home court. So far, there has been no indication that the era of MZT Skopje’s dominance in the Prva Liga is coming to a close.

As early as the first quarter, the hosts put the pedal to metal and exploded for an early 34-19 advantage. Kumanovo tried to respond, but MZT Skopje had control of the offensive and defensive glass and proceeded to take advantage of some second-chance points. For the game, MZT Skopje out-rebounded Kumanovo 40-26. In the second frame, the home team proved to be very formidable for the guests and were able to expand on their lead. By halftime, the scoreboard showed a 59-38 lead in favor of MZT Skopje.

After the break, Kumanovo came out and played hard, knowing all too well that this was a do-or-die game for them. Their improved defensive pressure was able to limit their hosts to just 12 points in the period. Unfortunately, their 12-25 rally in the third could not produce enough momentum to carry them through in the fourth and final period. In the end, MZT Skopje was able to do enough to hold on for the eventual win.

Vukasi Mandic led Kumanovo with a valiant effort. He finished the night with a game-high 23 points. Teammates Aleksandar Kostoski and Marjan Janevski added 13 and 12 points, respectively.

Predrag Samardzski was the best player for MZT Skopje. He put up an impressive double-double performance with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Stefan Sinovec chipped in 20 points and Aleksandar Capin added 16 points of his own.
