Mirza Begic lands with Bilbao Basket
Mirza Begic (216 cm) has reached an agreement with Bilbao Basket (Spain-Liga Endesa) and will be making his way back to the Spanish league this 2015-16 season. Begic is a 30-year-old international player who has dual citizenship from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovenia. The big man was recently released by the New Orleans Pelicans in October.
Mirza is no stranger to the Spanish Liga Endesa. He played for Real Madrid in 2012-13 and spent part of 2014-15 on the roster of Laboral Kutxa Vitoria. He joined Baskonia after starting the season playing for Union Olimpija Ljubljana (Slovenia-Telemach League). He played 18 games for Union Olimpija in the Euroleague and averaged 6.8 ppg and 4.0 rpg. In three Eurocup games he averaged 14.0 ppg. In 8 Adriatic league games Mirza posted averages of 9.8 ppg and 5.8 rpg. He ended up playing 28 games for Laboral Kutxa in the Spanish league and recorded averages of 6.2 ppg and 4.5 rpg.
