Mike Best joins Apoel Nicosia
Mike Best (208 cm, Cal-Irvine ’16) is on the move to Cytavision Apoel Nicosia (Cyprus-Division A). The 23-year-old American is in his first season playing professionally. He will be joining his second team as he debuted with Avantazh-Politekhnik Kharkov (Ukraine-Superleague) this season. With Kharkov, Best played a prominent bench role with averages of 10.0 ppg and 4.4 rpg in 18.1 mpg. His time there lasted for 23 games. The big man has the ability to score in the paint and could do just that if given more minutes. In his senior year at Cal-Irvine, he scored 9.8 ppg while shooting 48.7 percent on the year.
Now Best will head to play will Apoel. The team is currently in third place in Division A at 10-9 and sits in last in their group in stage two of the European cup. Apoel hopes the young American can bring the team a new scoring threat and help them finish the season on a high note.
