Mick Croning to miss Cincinnati season
The Cincinnati Bearcats will complete the NCAA season without head coach Mick Cronin because he has been forced to sit out the rest of the campaign. The tactician has what is described as a “non-life threatening vascular condition known as arterial dissection.”
He has been complaining of headaches and was diagnosed with the condition in December. He will not be able to prowl the bench for the remainder of the campaign, although he is expected to make a full recovery from his problem. He will also continue to be involved with the school, assuming an advisory role for the Bearcats through the term.
“I have the utmost confidence in our coaching staff and players that we will continue to develop as a team and play Bearcats basketball,” Cronin said. “This program is bigger than any coach or player. I don’t want this to be a distraction but instead want the focus to be on the growth and support of this team. Please know I am doing fine and look forward to continuing to help our basketball staff and players in my new, but temporary, role as the Bearcats’ general manager for the rest of the year.”
The school and more importantly medical professionals have stated that Mick Cronin will be able to resume his role in the future and that the condition is not career threatening.
