Micah Downs signed by Bucaneros

Micah Downs (203 cm, Gonzaga’09) has been signed by the Bucaneros de La Guaira from Venezuela’s LPB. Downs was released by the Boston Celtics in October 2012. He then signed with the Maine Red Claws of the NBA D-League the next month. He played 48 games for the Red Claws and averaged 16.0 ppg and 5.8 rpg.

The Bucaneros are currently fifth in the LPB standings with a record of 17-15 and they hope that adding Downs to bolster their lineup will be enough of a boost to improve their competitiveness moving forward.

The 27-year-old spent his 2011-12 season in Spain playing for Assignia Manresa (ACB). In 28 games, Downs managed to log averages of 11.3 ppg and 3.6 rpg.
