Melvin Johnson signed by Unieuro 2.015 Forli

Melvin Johnson (193 cm, VCU ’16) is on the move to Unieuro 2.015 Forli (Italy-SerieA2). This is the first year playing in Europe for Johnson and his second team. Earlier in the season, Johnson played for Openjobmetis Varese (Italy-Serie A) but struggled to make shots in the Serie A. From inside the two-point range Johnson shot 22.2 percent in league play while averaging 9.4 ppg in 22 mpg. The move down to Serie A2 could prove to be a confidence booster for the young guard.

Johnson was an excellent scorer at VCU. He led his team in scoring his senior year with 17.4 ppg while shooting 46.2 percent from inside the arch and 38.1 from three. Johnson and the VCU Rams made it to the NCAA tournament in 2015/2016 where they lost to the Oklahoma Sooners in the second round.
