MBC wins 2016/2017 German Pro A championship
The Mitteldeutscher BC Weissenfels (MBC) have been crowned the 2016/17 German Pro A champions after a smashing two-game sweep of the BiG Oettinger Rockets Gotha. They cruised to an easy 84-62 victory in the second game, thanks to a strong effort in the low post.
Sergio Kerusch dominated in the paint for MBC with a huge double-double. He went ham on Oettinger with 27 points and 12 boards. He could not be contained, hitting 10-of-16 from two-point range and 4-of-4 from the free throw line. His efficient scoring was a key factor in the win. Andrew Warren added 15 points for the winners.
Oettinger’s Robert Oehle chimed in with a 13-13 double-double performance of his own.
MBC finished atop of the Pro A regular season standings with a 27-3 record. They will be elevated to the German BBL for the 2017/18 season and should be looking to make a splash in Germany’s premier league.
