Maurice Baker and Jeremy Hazell sign with Cañeros del Este

Maurice Baker (1,88m, graduate from Oklahoma State University) and Jeremy Hazell (1,95m, coming from the Los Angeles Defenders) will soon be playing with the Cañeros del Este in the Dominican Republic.

The general manager of the Cañeros hopes that they work out well together and that they can turn the tide in what remains of the regular 2012 season in the ScotiaBank League.

Baker will be filling in for Lewis Clinch and Hazell will replace Jesse Pellot who is out due to an injury after just three games.

“We only have five games left to play and they are very important if we want to classify. That is why we can’t think twice about this decision; it is for the team and for its chances in the post-season.” Stated Báez.

The Cañeros were in first place until last Tuesday when they were beaten by the Cocolos, losing still after holding huge leads over their opponent (20 and 15 points).

They have lost their last three games and they are hurting. Can the new additions to the team change their fate?
