Marshawn Powell moves to Berme Viola
Marshawn Powell (201 cm, Arkansas ’13) is heading to Berme Viola Basket Reggio Calabria (Italy-Serie A2). The 27-year-old moves to Viola after a 13-game stint with s. Oliver Wuerzburg (Germany-BBL). He came off the bench for the German team with 21.2 mpg while scoring 9.5 ppg and grabbing 4.4 rpg. Now, Powell will look to bring his game to a struggling Viola team. Right now the team is in dead-last in the Western division of the Serie A2 with a 7-18 record.
Powell is making his return to Italy after playing with De Longhi Treviso Basket (Italy-Serie A2) from 2014-2016. His first season, the team played in the Serie A2 Silver where Powell averaged 15.7 ppg and 9.8 rpg. Treviso went on to win the Silver championship that season which led the team being promoted to Serie A2. The American played with the team in their promotion year and continued playing well with 15.0 ppg and 7.4 rpg. Viola will now be the home for Powell who will be looking to continue his strong play in the Serie A2.
