Mareks Jurevicus wins arbitration vs Veroli
Latvian player Mareks Jurevicus (197 cm) filed a claim against his former team CZG Veroli at the Basketball Arbitral Tribunal (BAT) for outstanding salaries, fees and interest. Jurevicus played for Veroli (Italy-Lega2) in the 2012-13 season. According to Article 16.2 of the BAT Rules, the Arbitrator issued an award without reasons. Quentin Byrne-Sutton, the case’s arbitrator handed out the following award:
1. Basket Veroli s.r.l. shall pay to Mr. Mareks Jurevicus an amount of compensation of EUR 10,428.51, plus interest at 5% per annum on such amount from 1 May 2013 onwards.
2. Basket Veroli s.r.l. shall pay to Entersport LLC an amount of compensation of EUR 3,400.00, plus interest at 5% per annum on such amount from 1 November 2013 onwards.
3. The costs of this arbitration until the present Award, which were determined by the President of the BAT to be in the amount of EUR 3,930.00, shall be borne by Basket Veroli s.r.l. alone. Accordingly, Basket Veroli s.r.l. shall pay jointly to Mr. Mareks Jurevicus and Entersport LLC an amount of EUR 3,930.00. The balance of the Advance on Costs, in the amount of EUR 1,084.71, will be reimbursed by the BAT jointly to Mr. Mareks Jurevicus and Entersport LLC
4. Basket Veroli s.r.l. shall pay jointly to Mr. Mareks Jurevicus and Entersport LLC an amount of EUR 1,500.00 as a contribution towards their legal fees and expenses.
5. Any arbitration costs associated with a Request for Reasons shall be advanced and borne by the requesting party.
6. Any other or further-reaching requests for relief are dismissed.
