Marcelo Huertas is moving to Unicaja Malaga
Marcelo Huertas (191 cm) will be a part of Unicaja Malaga (Spain-Liga Endesa) next season. Huertas is a veteran point guard, who is coming off two seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA. The Lakers put Huertas in 23 games a year ago but he only saw 10.3 mpg and averaged 2.7 ppg with 2.3 apg. Riding the bench was mainly where Huertas was in Los Angeles but appearing in the NBA is no small task.
Coming off the bench is not what Huertas is looking to do at this point in his career. He will look to find a much bigger role with Unicaja Malaga next season. Before moving to the NBA, the guard was with FC Barcelona (Spain-Liga Endesa) and showed promise in just 20.4 mpg. The highly talented Spanish club found tons of success with Huertas on the roster including a championship in the 2013/2014 season. The Brazillian scored 8.0 ppg in his final season with Barcelona which was the 2014/2015 season. He is now 34-years-old so his best days may be behind him. However, the veteran leadership coming with him should pay dividends for his new team.
