Maccabi Tel Aviv lands Lorenzo Brown
Maccabi Tel Aviv has a new weapon in its backcourt after signing point guard Lorenzo Brown to a two-year contract, the club announced on Wednesday. Brown (1.96 meters, 31 years old) spent last season in Russia with UNICS Kazan, with which he ranked second in the EuroLeague in assists with 6.1 per game in 24 appearances. He also tallied 13.8 points and 3.6 rebounds and ranked fourth with 1.5 steals per game last season.
This will be the fourth EuroLeague club in as many seasons for Brown. He made his competition debut with Crvena Zvezda Belgrade in the 2019-20 season and played for Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul in 2020-21. In 88 career appearances, he has averaged 11.5 points, 4.5 assists, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.3 steals. Brown played parts of five seasons in the NBA and the G-League at the start of his career with Philadelphia, Minnesota, Phoenix, and Toronto. Brown also played in China for two seasons for Zhejiang and Guangzhou.
“I’m excited to join the Maccabi family,” Brown told the club’s website. “I’m looking forward to being a part of the legacy that’s been created and also playing in front of the wonderful fan base.”
