Luke Martinez is now with Maccabi Hunter Haifa
Luke Martinez (193 cm, Wyoming ’13) will now be a part of the backcourt for Maccabi Hunter Haifa (Israel-Winner League). Martinez’ career has only taken place in either North or South America. Most recently with Soles de Mexicali (Mexico-LNBP) last season for 25 games. The Mexican-American guard underwent a solid season in the Mexican league with totals of 12.8 ppg, 4.9 rpg, and 2.4 apg. Soles used him in a critical role which helped the team go on to finish second in the standings. The league awarded him with an honorable mention after his terrific season.
Martinez strong year means a move to a more competitive league. The Winner league will be his new home which is his first league to appear in across the pond. He will be 27-year-old by the time the season rolls around, so this is the time for him to make the leap. Maccabi Hunter Haifa is coming off a subpar year where they finished eighth in the regular season. No season has been one to remember since winning the Israel Premier league in the 2012/2013 season. Martinez should add a new element to the backcourt and see plenty of minutes right out of the gate.
