Luka Doncic declares himself for NBA Draft
The moment is finally here; Luka Doncic declares himself for NBA Draft. Mooted Number 1 2018 NBA Draft pick Luka Doncic has formally declared his participation in this year’s draft. It was widely expected the Slovenian international would make himself eligible where he will be the hottest ticket in the draft.
The 19-year old is arguably the hottest name in European basketball and certainly its most prized prospect. Despite his young age, Doncic is already among the best players on the continent. He is expected to transfer that quality to a long career at the elite levels of the NBA and that journey now looks like to start this year.
Doncic has been part of Real Madrid’s first team since 2015 when he became the youngest full roster player ever for Los Blancos. This season, the guard is having his best campaign in both the Spanish Liga Endesa and EuroLeague, with averages of 14.8 points, 5.1 rebounds and 4.6 assists in 54 games.
Among his accolades are ACB Best Young Player Award and Euroleague Rising Star Trophy for 2016-17. He was also in the team of the tournament for EuroBasket 2017, where he was a key part in Slovenia’s run to the title, helping the nation collect it first ever international gold.
