Lucentum wins Spanish LEB-Gold title
Lucentum Alicante has proved victorious over B.C. River Andorra to win the Spanish LEB-Gold title. The game ended with a final score of 95-71, showing how dominant Lucentum was in the critical fifth game of the finals series. The win gains the team entry into the Spain’s premier league, the ACB.
The game was an explosion of offense by the winners from the beginning and all throughout the contest. Lucentum put up 21 points in the first quarter and 32 points in the second. It snowballed from there as they built 26-point lead after the half. Andorra tried to put up a rally in the fourth quarter, but it was too little and too late, allowing the victors to end the game by a 24-point margin.
Lucentum was led by Rafael Huertas (189 cm) who finished with 22 points. Import Taylor Coopenrath (205 cm, Vermont’05) contributed 15 points. Roma Bas (192 cm) chipped in 14 point of his own. As for Andorra, they were led by Austrian Thomas Schreiner (195 cm) who had 18 points and by Marc Blanch (194 cm) who added 13.
