Los Angeles Lakers Could Trade for Terry Rozier
Charlotte Hornets scoring guard Terry Rozier finds himself on the list of the Los Angeles Lakers’ trade targets.
Who wants to see Terry Rozier in a purple and gold jersey? The Los Angeles Lakers apparently do, as they are reportedly enamored with the prospect of bringing in the Charlotte Hornets’ scoring combo guard. Per Shams Charania of The Athletic, Rozier is a name that’s been included in the Lakers’ trade wishlist since the last offseason. That interest is still there, especially with the Lakers having a tough start to the 2022-23 NBA season.
Terry Rozier, who turns 29 next year, is an underrated scoring guard in the league. He only stands at 6-foot-1, but he has an excellent knack for getting to his spots and using his burst and speed to his advantage. Through two games this season, Rozier is averaging all-around numbers of 23.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 8.5 assists, and 1.5 blocks per game, which is easily the best stat line of his career. With All-Star point guard LaMelo Ball currently sitting out, Rozier has taken charge of the Hornets’ offense. Rozier did miss the Hornets’ most recent game due to an ankle injury, and it remains to be seen when he’ll be back on the court.
As for the Lakers, getting Terry Rozier’s services could help boost their offense. Rozier is currently hitting 40% of his 7.5 three-point attempts per game, so his excellent outside shooting will be a welcome sight for a Lakers team really struggling to hit their long-range attempts. But of course, making the trade happen is easier said than done. Russell Westbrook will surely be included, but how willing are the Lakers’ front office in shipping their future draft picks? One thing’s for sure though — the Westbrook experiment is not working and the Lakers have to address that matter.
