Liga Americas 2015: Bauru claims title
Top Brazilian NBB team Bauru took down Pioneros de Quintana Roo-Cancun from Mexico’s LNBP 86-72 to claim the 2015 Liga Americas title. Bauru easily took down Argentinian club Penarol, while Pioneros downed Brazilian team Flamengo en route to their Finals clash. It was an impressive overall performance by Bauru, which came up with a game swinging run in the second frame, breaking away from a 24-24 deadlock at the end of the first quarter.
Bauru was lifted by a dominant Rafael Hettsheimer who finished with a game-high 30 points. He made five three-pointers and also grabbed eight rebounds. His teammate Murilo Becker also came up big with a double-double performance, scoring 17 points and grabbing 11 boards. In the end, it was Bauru’s superior unselfish play during the game that opened scoring opportunities for them. They tallied 24 assists for the game compared to Pioneros’ 11.
Justin Keenan paced Pioneros with his 24 points, but his only real support came in the form of Denis Clemente and Hector Hernandez who scored 13 and 12 points respectively.
