Lazar Hayward heads to Guaros de Lara
Lazar Hayward (198 cm, Marquette ’10) is on the move to Guaros de Lara (Venezuela-LPB). This will be the first move out of the United States for the 30-year-old forward. Since graduating, he bounced in-and-out of the NBA and D-league. In the 2010 NBA draft, the Minnesota Timberwolves selected Hayward with the 30th overall pick. His career started with one season in Minnesota before being traded to Oklahoma City in his second season. The forward found the most playing time during his rookie season with averages of 4.1 ppg and 1.8 rpg in 39 games for Minnesota. Earlier this season, Hayward played with the Long Island Nets (D-League) for 20 games. There, he showed impressive numbers with 12.4 ppg and 5.9 rpg in 23.9 mpg. Guaros de Lara will look for Hayward to continue showing his ability to score for their already talented team. The team is in first place in the Western Conference of the LPB with a 23-13 record.
