Lamonte Ulmer heads to Champagne Chalons-Reims
Lamonte Ulmer (196 cm, Rhode Island ’10) is moving to Champagne Chalons-Reims (France-Pro A). This is the first appearance in France for the small forward in his eight-year career. Most recently, Ulmer was with s. Oliver Wuerzburg (Germany-BBL) for the last two seasons. He saw the floor for 27.2 mpg a year ago and managed to score 12.7 ppg with 4.4 rpg and 1.0 spg. Ulmer played about 27.2 mpg in 32 games for the squad and was asked to shoot well from the perimeter. He shot 38.5 percent from deep which was pretty useful for Wuerzburg. However, it was not as high as his 44.1 percentage in the 2015/2016 season with the German team.
Champagne Chalons-Reims would love to see Ulmer continue shooting threes at a high rate. The team is in need of massive improvements as they struggled to stay afloat in the Pro A last season. Going 10-24, the team finished in 16th place. Ulmer should add a much needed reliable scoring threat as well as a veteran voice in the locker room.
