Lamar Odom, other Ex-NBA stars depart BIG3 League
Former NBA champion, 39-year-old Lamar Odom and three other ex-NBA players have been “deactivated” for the 2019 BIG3 season. He is joined by Baron Davis, Bonzi Wells and Jermaine O’Neal. The BIG3 league was created by rapper and hip-hop artist Ice Cube in 2017 and features former NBA players in a 3-on-3 basketball league.
“As the premier professional 3-on-3 league in the world, we are always striving to improve the quality of both the live and broadcast experience for our fans as well as the level of competition,” the statement read. “In addition, the smooth running of our internal organization, while in great shape for a young third-year league, needs to be improved and ongoing changes will continue to be implemented and finalized next Monday.”
Davis, who is 40 years old, said in a statement that he decided to no longer participate in the league because “I don’t feel it is in my best interest to play, all love to the guys, stay connected and protect yourselves.”
The league needs to ensure the health and safety of its players, so it comes to no surprise that guys whose health are at a less-than-ideal state, would be cut from the BIG3 League.
