Iceland Dominos League: KR celebrates 4th-straight title
KR Reykjavik continue on their path of dominance in the Iceland Dominos League after bagging their fourth-straight title. The team was tested this season by UMF Grindavik, taking the series to its full five-game limit.
In the fifth and final game, there would be no question nor doubt as to which was the better team. KR led from start to finish and did not relinquish control of the game. The paint was their domain and Grindavik could do little to contest its ownership. They pounded the ball down low and it was a matter of their smooth and solid execution that kept their opponents grasping at straws for answers.
With the defense being forced to collapse on KR’s big men, Brynjar Bjornsson saw his fair share of open looks from downtown and he made sure he capitalized on it. He hit 5-of-11 shots from beyond the three-point arc, en route to his game-high 23 points. Inside, or outside, KR had Grindavik’s number in this game. Pavel Ermolinkji made sure the offense was flowing in the right direction and orchestrated it well as he dished out 13 assists.
Dagur Jonsson was the only Grindavik player who was able to score in double figures with 15 points.
As KR celebrates its four-peat achievement, questions are now asked as to which team will rise up and unseat them, ending the reign of their dynasty in the Iceland Dominos league.
