Kolossos Rodou sanctioned by FIBA
It has been found that Kolossos Rodou (Greece-A1) continues to be in breach of its obligation to honor an award order by the Basketball Arbitral Tribunal (BAT). For that reason FIBA banned the Greek club from registering new players. The BAT awarded American player Laron Dendy (photo above) his claim against his former team for outstanding salaries, penalties and a visa fine. The team did not submit an answer to the tribunal within the allotted time and the Arbitrator gave the following ruling:
1. K.A.E. Kolossos Rhodes is ordered to pay to Mr. Laron Dendy the amount of USD 24,900.00.
2. K.A.E. Kolossos Rhodes is ordered to pay to Mr. Laron Dendy the amount of EUR 4,132.93 as a reimbursement of the advance on arbitration costs.
3. K.A.E. Kolossos Rhodes is ordered to pay to Mr. Laron Dendy the amount of EUR 3,000.00 as a contribution towards his legal fees and expenses. K.A.E. Kolossos Rhodes shall bear its own legal costs.
4. Any other or further-reaching claims for relief are dismissed.
