Khaliq Spicer on the move to Hubo Limburg United
Khaliq Spicer (206 cm, Kent State ’16) signs with Hubo Limburg United (Belgium-Euromillions League). Spicer is heading to his second destination since going pro last season with KK Tajfun Sentjur (Slovenia-Liga Nova KBM). In his first season, the center scored 10.3 ppg while grabbing 7.9 rpg and swatting 1.9 bpg. He recorded these stats while just seeing 23.7 mpg in 30 games. His 206 cm size could have caused problems for Spicer in the rebounding department. However, he was able to still effectively grab boards at an impressive rate.
Now, Spicer will get another opportunity to show he belongs in the paint with anybody. This time around comes in Belgium with Hubo Limburg United next season. The Belgium team is coming off an 18-18 season which finished them in sixth. Limburg United was also a part of the FIBA European Cup a year ago but failed to advance past the group stage. Their record finished at 1-5 which put them last in Group B.
Spicer will be a solid rebounder for Limburg and bring youthful energy to the paint. The 23-year-old is also an excellent defender. With Kent State, the big man was voted the All-MAC defensive player of the year in his senior year. Spicer is effective blocking shots and not letting any other post player get to the bucket. His type of defensive intensity is a valuable commodity on any team.
