Khalid El-Amin lands with Marinos de Anzoategui
Khalid El-Amin (178 cm, Connecticut ’00) is heading to Marinos de Anzoategui (Venezuela-LPB). El-Amin had not signed with a team this season until now. The 38-year-old guard is going into year number 16 in his professional career, but this will be his first in the LPB. He has spent most of his career playing all over Europe including stops in Croatia, France, Israel, Lithuania, Germany, and Ukraine since the 2000/2001 season.
Most recently, El-Amin suited up last season with BG Goettingen (Germany-BBL). In 16 league games, the guard averaged 13.1 ppg and 6.4 apg in 27.1 mpg of action. Before going to Germany, El-Amin was a part of Sigal Prishtina (Kosovo-Super League) last season for six FIBA European cup games as well as three league games. The team made it to the Superleague championship with the help of El-Amin.
Marinos de Anzoategui adds the veteran guard for the conclusion of their season. He will bring a new sense of leadership and intensity to the Venezuelan team. Currently, they are fourth in the Eastern Conference of the standings with a 6-10 record.
