Kalev/Cramo claims Estonia KML success
Kalev/Cramo Tallinn took out TU/Rock in Game 5 of the Alexela KML to be crowned the champion of Estonia Basketball, while also avenging last season’s finals loss. The victory was arguably the justified outcome to the season after Kalev/Cramo swept the Regular Season with an unbeaten 32-0 record.
The club is now celebrating its 8th KML title, a success that cements the team as the dominant force in Estonian Basketball. The organization has now won all of its 8 titles since 2005 and this latest league win is the fifth in six seasons.
The victory came at home as the hosts took apart Tartu Rock 81-54 in a performance that had success written on it from the first buzzer. Indeed, the club took apart the defending champions in the first quarter and led 18-8 at the first split. In the second stanza the onslaught continued as Kalev/Cramo took control for good with a 26-15 frame that made it 44-23 through halftime. The game was done barring a stunning comeback, but it was not to be as the hosts won the third act 20-12 to make it 64-35 through thirty minutes. The guests restored minimal pride by winning the fourth 17-19, but the damage had been done.
Morris Curry topped the win with 19 points, while Rolands Freimanis added 15 points and 7 rebounds. Shawn King managed a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds.
