Joventut punches ticket to EuroCup Top 16

And then there were four… Last night, Joventut Badalona bagged one of the last five remaining slots in the EuroCup Top 16. The Spanish outfit surpassed expectations with a clutch win over Unics Kazan, 90-73.

Both Joventut and Unics are now tied at 5-4 in Group C, but this win and margin provide Badalona with an all-important tiebreaker to secure their advancement into the next round of competition.

Joventut overwhelmed Unics in this one, defeating them in every major category. Their offense hummed like a well-oiled machine. The greens made 12 3-pointers compared to nine by Unics. They also dished out an impressive 22 assists vs. just 13 by their guests.

Thanks to their unselfish play, the hosts saw six of their players score in double-figures. They were led by Klemen Prepelic who posted 15 points and three 3-pointers. Credit must be given to where, or whom it is due. Joventut’s bench mob outgunned Unics’ 31-18.

Unics was paced by Raymar Morgan and Erick McCollum, who posted 18 and 15 points, respectively.
