Jordan Crawford joins the Boston Celtics
Jordan Crawford (193 cm, Xavier’10) is on his way to join the injury-decimated Boston Celtics. The Celtics are sending Jason Collins (213 cm, Stanford’01) and Brazilian guard Leandro Barbosa (190 cm) to the Washington Wizards in exchange for Crawford.
Crawford who has been averaging 13.2 ppg and 3.7 apg for the Wizards this season, will join the Celtics’ back court reserves. The Celtics have been battered by many injuries to their players this season. They lost rookie Jared Sullinger to a back injury. All-star point guard Rajon Rondo is going to miss the remainder of the season with a torn ACL. Leandro Barbosa, who is likely being acquired by the Wizards for his expiring contract is also done for the season with a torn ACL as well.
The Wizards wanted to dump Crawford’s contract when it became clear that rookie Bradley Beal (190 cm, Florida’12) is adequate as the team’s starting shooting guard.
