Jimmer Fredette heads to China
After a lackluster NBA career, Jimmer Fredette (188 cm, BYU’11) is taking his game to China this 2016-17, signing with the Shanghai Dongfang Sharks (China-CBA). Fredette was drafted 10th overall in the 2011 NBA Draft by the Milwaukee Bucks, but was traded on draft day to the Sacramento Kings. He was a known scorer in college, but could not find a way to transition his game in world’s top pro league. In 2015-16 he was released by the San Antonio Spurs in October 2015 and a month later Fredette signed with the New Orleans Pelicans. He played four games for the Pelicans and averaged 0.5 ppg. He was released by the team and Jimmer found himself playing in the NBA D-League for the Westchester Knicks. He played a total of 42 games for the Westchester Knicks and he averaged 21.1 ppg, 4.4 rpg, and 5.0 apg. Fredette was briefly called back up to the NBA by the New York Knicks, where he played a couple of games and averaged 3.5 ppg.
Can Fredette bring “Jimmer Time” to China? We will see.
