Jakob Doerksen stays with Vechta
Jakob Doerksen (200 cm) will stay with new German BBL Bundesliga team SC Rasta Vechta next season after helping the team to success during this campaign. The Canadian forward was an important cog in the Vechta machine this year as the team secured promotion from the ProA to the BBL. The club has now rewarded Doerksen by extending his deal for next season and will be hoping for a similar return from the player. During 2012/2013 25-year old Jakob Doerksen played 34 games for Vechta and picked up 3.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.2 steals per game.
SC Rasta Vechta Head Coach Pat Elzie stressed Doerksen’s importance to the team and welcomed his return for next season.
“He was an important part in our team last season. For me he was the most important player. Our team didn’t always look good when he was injured. He is one of the best post players that I have experienced in my long career. He is also a great guy. Now he will have to prove that he can play his game against physical stronger players. I believe that he has the potential to do that”.
