Iverson passes on D-League

Allen Iverson (184 cm, Georgetown’96) has passed on the opportunity to join D-League outfit the Texas Legends, who are the affiliate of the Dallas Mavericks in the Development League.

Guard Iverson is a former NBA MVP (’01) and a two time All-Star MVP (’01 and ’05), while he also participated in 10 consecutive All-Star games from 2000 to 2009. Iverson tweeted his gratitude at being asked to join the Texas Legends by the Dallas Mavericks GM Donnie Nelson.

“I thank Donnie and Dallas for the consideration,” Iverson wrote, “And while I think the D-League is a great opportunity, it is not the route for me.”

Iverson has not played since the 2010-2011 season when he played for Besiktas (Turkey, TBL) and has been looking for a route back into basketball.
