Italian Serie A Final Four is Set
The Italian Serie A Final Four is set. Umana Reyer Venezia completes lineup of teams advancing to the semifinals after crushing Dolomiti Energia Trento, 87-62 in Game 5.
They will be facing off against Vanoli Cremona on May 30th, while AX Armani Exchange Milano will be battling Banco di Sardegna Sassari on May 29th. To a certain degree, it isn’t too surprising that the top-4 teams that finished the regular season were the same teams that managed to advance to this stage of the postseason.
This was an easy win for Venezia. They controlled the game from start to finish and were not at any serious risk of losing the game at any point. The biggest factor that contributed to their success in this game was their bench scoring. Their reserves contributed 26 points to the box score compared to just one point from the side of Trento.
Marquez Haynes was on fire for Venezia as he knocked down six 3-pointers en route to his game-high 23 points. Austin Daye was a key performer off the bench with a 13-point, 11-rebound double-double performance.
On Trento’s side, four players scored in double figures, led by Aaron Craft and Dustin Hogue, who both scored 16 points.
Moving on, Venezia now turn their sights on Vanoli Cremona. It should be a tougher challenge but they will need to power through if they want to punch their tickets to the finals of the Italian Serie A.
