Injured Clippers Star Kawhi Leonard Now Progressing in Recovery
Los Angeles Clippers superstar Kawhi Leonard is reportedly “progressing well” as he tries to make his way back to the court.
Los Angeles Clippers superstar forward Kawhi Leonard has only played in two games this season, and there’s no exact timetable for his return. But Clippers head coach Ty Lue recently shared a piece of good news, saying that Leonard is actually “progressing well” in his recovery from the knee issues that are still bothering him. After sitting out the entirety of the 2021-22 NBA season due to a Torn ACL injury, Kawhi is still dealing with pain in his knee, keeping him sidelined this season.
Lue mentioned that the team expected Kawhi Leonard to encounter challenges in terms of his knee, especially with him coming off a major injury. The Clippers might have anticipated that Kawhi will miss back-to-back games to manage his workload, but to sit out at this early part of the season might have surprised them. Kawhi only logged 21.0 minutes through two contests, averaging 12.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.5 steals in that span.
With Kawhi sitting out a lot of games, it’s a relief that the Clippers have invested in roster depth last summer. All-Star forward Paul George is carrying the lion’s share of the workload, as he’s tallying 25.0 points, 6.1 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 1.7 steals this season. The Clippers are also getting a lot of significant contributions across the roster, with Marcus Morris, John Wall, Norman Powell, Ivica Zubac, and Reggie Jackson all averaging double-digits in the scoring column. Their defense has also been spectacular this season, as they currently rank fourth in the league in defensive rating (109.0).
