In that contest, Caitlin Clark led the team’s scoring attack with 30 points on 8-for-15 shooting overall and an impressive 7-for-13 from beyond the arc. She also tallied eight rebounds, six assists and four steals in what was probably the best all-around performance of her young WNBA career. 

Kelsey Mitchell added 16 points, four rebounds, and three steals, while Aliyah Boston and NaLyssa Smith scored 10 points each. As fan interest in Clark continues, the Mystics hosted this contest at Capital One Arena instead of the stadium they usually play at home. The sellout crowd of 20,033 was the highest attendance for a game since 2007.

Meanwhile, the Connecticut Sun had posted wins in each of their first nine games. Unfortunately, that streak ended with an 82-75 loss to the New York Liberty on Saturday night. 

Both teams overcame early double-digit deficits and battled to a 39-39 stalemate at the break. Fast forwarding to the fourth quarter, Connecticut trailed 76-72 before Tyasha Harris knocked down a three-pointer, to cut the deficit to 76-75 with 90 seconds left to play in regulation. New York responded with five consecutive points, courtesy of a 3-pointer from Jonquel Jones and a basket by Sabrina Ionescu, pushing the lead back to 81-75.
