Hodge Wins Claim vs. Baskonia at BAT
Walter Hodge filed a claim against his Spanish club Laboral Kutxa Vitoria at the Basketball Arbitral Tribunal (BAT) for outstanding salaries and interest. He submitted that the team failed to make all the payments under the termination agreement. Hodge has triple citizenship from the U.S.A., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. He was a member of the club during the 2013/14 season. The club did not file an answer within the set time limits.
The Arbitrator of the case upheld the claim in its entirety. The Award of the case reads as follows:
1. Saski Baskonia S.A.D. shall pay Mr. Walter Hodge, as contractual damages, USD 121,620.00, net of tax.
2. Saski Baskonia S.A.D. shall pay Mr. Walter Hodge an amount of EUR 6,620.00 as reimbursement of his arbitration costs.
3. Saski Baskonia S.A.D. shall pay Mr. Walter Hodge an amount of EUR 6,322.43 as a contribution to his legal fees and expenses.
4. Any other or further-reaching requests for relief are dismissed.
