Harrison leaving BYU for Clemson
BYU hoops guard/forward Damarcus Harrison is transferring to Clemson, the school announced today. Harrison was set to return for the 2014-15 basketball season after serving an LDS mission, but the ACC school will now be receiving his services.
The 6-5 wing saw sporadic time as a freshman during the 2011-12 season, but definitely showed signs of his athleticism and shooting ability in spurts, like when his breakaway dunk against Baylor sent the Marriott Center into a frenzy.
His biggest contribution to the Cougars came in the NCAA tournament play-in game against Iona. With BYU struggling, Harrison was inserted and played his highest minute total of the season, scoring 12 points and grabbing three rebounds in 21 minutes of play. His strong zone defense play in the second half helped key BYU’s historic comeback and spurred the Cougars on to the next round.
BYU was set to have an impressive guard line in 2014 with Harrison, T.J. Haws, and Nick Emery.
