Grizzlies’ Desmond Bane To Miss At Least Two Weeks
Memphis Grizzlies rising star Desmond Bane could miss two or three weeks of action.
Desmond Bane Sustains Toe Injury
Memphis Grizzlies star shooting guard Desmond Bane will be at injury bay for at least a couple of weeks. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Bane has been diagnosed with a Grade 2 sprain of his right big toe, an injury that he sustained in the Grizzlies’ 114-103 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves last Friday. Bane logged a shade over 33 minutes in that game, scoring 24 markers and dishing out five assists in the win.
Desmond Bane, who is the 30th overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, is in his third year with the Grizzlies. The 6-foot-5 wing is having an All-Star caliber performance this season, as he is putting up a tremendous stat line of 24.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 0.6 steals per contest. On top of these numbers, Bane is also shooting a spectacular 45.1% clip from the three-point line (8.5 three-point attempts), making him one of the best wing shooters we have in the league today.
Bane has joined forces with co-star Ja Morant to lift the Grizzlies to a 9-5 record this season. They have put themselves in the conversation of the best backcourt tandems in the NBA, as the success of the Grizzlies hinges on their continuous growth and consistent production.
Without Bane for the foreseeable future, the Grizzlies will have a depleted depth in the wing position. Aside from Bane, young versatile wing Ziaire Williams and veteran 3-and-D wing Danny Green are also at injury bay. Morant will have to do a lot of heavy lifting in the next couple of weeks, and Memphis should expect more contributions from the likes of Dillon Brooks and John Konchar.
