Gregor Arbet signs with Kavala

Gregor Arbet (195 cm, 1983) has signed a deal with Greek A1 team Kavala. Arbet has been a long-time member of the Estonian National Team. He is being added for his defensive abilities. He was named six times to the Estonian league All-Defensive team. He averaged 6.3 ppg and 2.6 rpg in the Estonian championships this season. He was also named to the Baltic League’s All-European Players Team last season. Arbet is the sixth Estonian National Team member to play abroad this season.

He is a five-time Estonian champion and is regarded as one of the best players from Estonia in recent history. Arbet played previously for Kalev/Cramo and Triobet/Dalkia (Estonia) and  TSK Wuerzburg (Germany). In 2012-13 Gregor Arbet averaged 9.4 ppg, 2.2 rpg in nine games in the Baltic league for Kalev/Cramo. He also averaged 9.0 ppg, 2.6 rpg in the VTB League over 11 games for the same team.

Gregor is quick and is very effective in the fast break. He has excellent fundamentals and is known to be a quick-release shooter. His agility and athleticism give defenders a difficult time. He can slash to the basket, breaking down the defense, and either score or pass to his open teammate. His advantage in most match-ups is that he is known to have a quick first step.
