Golden State Warriors make the NBA Finals for the sixth time in the past eight years

After a two-year playoff hiatus, the Golden State Warriors are headed to their sixth NBA Finals appearance in eight seasons after eliminating the Dallas Mavericks with a 120-110 win in Game 5 of the Western Conference finals at Chase Center on Thursday night.

The Warriors await the winner of the Eastern Conference finals between the Miami Heat and Boston Celtics. Boston leads the series three games to two, with Game 6 scheduled for Friday night at TD Garden.

Game 1 of the NBA Finals is scheduled for Thursday, June 2, at Chase Center as the Warriors hold the home-court advantage over both the Heat and Celtics.

The Warriors went to the NBA Finals five straight seasons from 2015 through 2019 before missing the playoffs the last two seasons.

All five Warriors starters scored in double figures, led by Klay Thompson’s 32 points. Steph Curry finished with 15 points and was named the inaugural Magic Johnson Western Conference finals MVP. Andrew Wiggins had 18, Draymond Green scored 17, and Kevon Looney added 10 points.

Now officially back in the Finals, Curry and the Warriors will try to capture their fourth NBA championship in the last eight seasons and add to their dynastic trophy case.
